A Teaching For Rosh Hashana 5760

by Hannah Clapsadle

Today we are invited to take our fate into our own hands, and affect what is transcribed for us in the book of life.

We have a chance to forgive, and be forgiven; but it is not always easy to let go of anger. We are proud or stubborn, holding onto our grievances.

Luckily, there is a very good reason to forgive: anger gets in the way of love.

We must love the people in our lives, because if we can't, who will? No one will take your place. Everyone knows that there is no better feeling than being loved, and nothing worse than it's absence.

Life is short. We are finite beings, whose ends, though they may be at different times and in different manners, will all come at last.

Therefore, why should we not do the best we can while we are here, to feel more love than coldness, more forgiveness than anger.
